Rachel Weisz and fiance Darren Aronofsky live in New York |
Oscar-winning British actress Rachel Weisz has given birth to her first child, a baby boy, in New York. The 35-year-old's spokeswoman said both mother and child were "happy, healthy, wonderful" but did not disclose the baby's name.
Weisz, who won an Academy Award for best supporting actress for The Constant Gardener, is engaged to film director Darren Aronofsky.
She gave birth on Wednesday in a hospital near their New York home.
Weisz - whose other films include About A Boy and The Mummy - announced her pregnancy on Jay Leno's Tonight Show in January.
She will next be seen with Hugh Jackman in The Fountain, written and directed by Aronofsky.
The $35m (19m) production, which originally starred Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett, had been tipped to premiere at this year's Cannes Film Festival but will now open later this year.
