Country duo make awards history

Brooks & Dunn have won 21 CMA trophies in their careers
Brooks & Dunn once again collected accolades at the Academy of Country Music Awards, making them the most successful act in the show's history.

The duo, who won best song for Believe, now have 21 awards from the Academy of Country Music (ACM).

Other winners at the Las Vegas ceremony were Brad Paisley, Keith Urban and American Idol winner Carrie Underwood.

Kenny Chesney, who was briefly married to actress Renee Zellweger, picked up entertainer of the year.

Underwood, who won the fourth series of American Idol, took home the awards for new female vocalist and single of the year for Jesus Take the Wheel.

Vocal event

Paisley, who was nominated for six awards, won best album for Time Well Wasted and shared the vocal event honour with Dolly Parton for their duet When I Get Where I'm Going.

Urban, who is engaged to actress Nicole Kidman, received the male vocalist award for the second year running, while Sara Evans won best female vocalist.

Jason Aldean picked up top new male vocalist and Sugarland were named best new duo or vocal group.

Rascal Flatts were awarded the title of best vocal group.
