The forthcoming stage version of Dirty Dancing has sold out the first two months of its run even though some of the roles remain uncast. It opens at London's Aldwych Theatre in October and more than �3m of tickets have been sold so far.
The show is based on the 1987 movie, with screenwriter Eleanor Bergstein adapting her film script for the stage.
In Australia, it has already broken box office records with nearly one million ticket sales.
'Unprecedented demand'
Tickets went on sale in London six weeks ago, and a spokesman for the production said: "This show has become the fastest to achieve such a level of sales in such a short period of time - this is unprecedented demand."
The original film starred Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey in a coming-of-age story about a teenage girl who fell in love with a dance instructor during a family holiday.
The soundtrack to the successful film sold 41m copies.
Theatrical producers recently held open auditions to find two stars for the lead roles on stage.
The show would have "everything from the film and more", promised Bergstein.
