Abdul is currently appearing in the fifth series of American Idol |
Los Angeles police are investigating a complaint made by American Idol judge Paula Abdul that she was assaulted and injured during an argument. The 43-year-old claims that a man slammed her into a wall causing back injuries and concussion at a party.
A police spokeswoman said they were looking into the case but did not have any suspects at present.
Abdul, who had hits such as Straight Up in the 1980s and 1990s, appeared on Tuesday's American Idol show as usual.
Ejected
The singer told police she would make herself available to have photographs of her injuries taken following a consultation with her doctor.
Abdul, who acts as a moderate conterpart to ascerbic fellow judge Simon Cowell on American Idol, recently signed up for another three years on the television talent search, currently in its fifth series.
The Grammy Award-winning performer was cleared last year of privately coaching one of the contestants on the programme.
Corey Clark claimed that he was helped by Abdul while they conducted a secret affair.
The former pop star denied being involved with Clark, who was ejected from the second series in 2003 for concealing a previous arrest.
