Paisley has taken three albums to the top of the US country charts |
US singer Brad Paisley leads the list of nominees for this year's Country Music Awards with six nominations, including top male vocalist. Paisley was also shortlisted for the album, single, song, event and video of the year awards.
American Idol winner Carrie Underwood has been nominated for four awards, while Brooks & Dunn and Sugarland are shortlisted for five prizes each.
The awards ceremony takes place in Las Vegas on 23 May.
'Belief in albums'
Paisley, 33, began performing and writing aged 12 and has taken three albums to the top of the US country music chart.
He said he would most like to win the album of the year award because it recognised the musicians, producers and songwriters who worked on Time Well Wasted.
"I still believe in the art form of the record album," he said.

"There is a time and place when that may go away, but now I still believe that that is more of an art form than just recording a song.
"I look back on my favourite albums and they are a part of my life."
Underwood's nominations include top female vocalist, top new female vocalist, song and single of the year for Jesus Take the Wheel.
"This is a monumental moment for me, a milestone in my life and my career," she said.
Country Music Award winners are selected by the Academy of Country Music.
