Music mogul Simon Cowell has revealed he prefers the classic songs of Frank Sinatra and Bobby Darin to modern pop. Cowell only included one recent tune in his list of eight favourite tracks on BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs.
Daniel Bedingfield's You're Not The One was joined by hits from the likes of Righteous Brothers and Sammy Davis Jr.
The X Factor star described his favourite song, Bobby Darin's version of Mack the Knife, as "the best song ever made, ever produced, ever sung".
Other tracks to make the list include Charles Aznavour's She, which Cowell said was "one of the most beautiful songs of all time", and Herb Alpert's This Guy's in Love - "the sexiest song ever", according to Cowell.
He told presenter Sue Lawley he would take a mirror with him as his luxury item on a desert island, "because I'd miss me".
Cowell described TV talent show The X Factor as crazy.
"It's like the outpatients of an insane asylum sometimes. I mean you just think, 'Is this a joke?'", he said.
The 46-year-old, who grew up in Elstree, admitted he was a "horrible child", who once set fire to his house and held a bus up with a pea-shooter.
