Former X Factor contestant and one-time stripper Chico has shot to number one in the singles chart, outselling Madonna by a margin of two to one. It's Chico Time has toppled Madonna's single Sorry, which slipped to fourth.
The song also kept girl group the Pussycat Dolls at bay with their single Beep coming in at number two.
Soul singer Corinne Bailey Rae's single Put Your Records On fell to number three but her debut album went straight to the top of the albums chart.
Californian rockers Orson entered the singles chart at number five with No Tomorrow, while Thunder In My Heart Again from Meck featuring Leo Sayer slipped to six.
Sound of 2006 success
British soft rockers The Feeling came in at number seven with Sewn while previous chart-toppers Notorious BIG, Diddy and Nelly slid from five to eight with Nasty Girl.
The final top 10 new entry came from Colombian singer Shakira at nine with Don't Bother.
Corinne Bailey Rae's album success comes two months after the Leeds singer-songwriter topped the BBC News website's Sound of 2006 new talent survey.
She pushed Jack Johnson's In Between Dreams to second place in the albums rundown with the Arctic Monkeys dropping to third.
