Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards have agreed to an extension of a restraining order requiring the actor to stay away from his estranged wife. A Los Angeles judge issued the order in April after Ms Richards, 35, alleged Mr Sheen pushed, shoved, and threatened her and her parents.
The order now runs until 13 July, so a psychologist can help decide a custody arrangement for their daughters.
The Platoon and Wall Street star, 40, denies the allegations against him.
"Denise and Charlie are working with the courts to privately resolve their differences regarding their children," a joint statement issued by their representatives said.
"They hope to resolve this matter outside of the public forum and will both continue to make every effort in this regard."
The couple met while filming in 2000 and married two years later.
They have two children, Sam and Lola. The relationship collapsed in March 2005, shortly before Lola's birth.
