The Apprentice, which has just started a second series on BBC2, has gained a nod in the reality show category with I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

The Rose d'Or awards ceremony is due to take place in the Swiss city of Lucerne on 29 April.

Other British comedy shows which have gained nominations include The Catherine Tate Show, The Thick of It and Channel 4's The IT Crowd.

Record collection

Soaps EastEnders, Emmerdale and Coronation Street have all been shortlisted, along with continuing series from Germany, Spain, Ireland and Norway.

US drama serial The Bold and the Beautiful is also in the line-up.

The BBC has landed two nominations for its coverage of the Live 8 concerts last July, in the music and social awareness categories.

A programme featuring the late John Peel has been nominated

Fund-raising show Comic Relief Does Fame Academy has made the variety shortlist along with ITV's The X Factor.

I'm A Celebrity hosts Ant & Dec have also gained a nod for best variety show for their Gameshow Marathon.

A programme in which late DJ John Peel delved into his legendary record collection has picked up a nomination for its makers Initial in the arts and specials category.

A series of awards for individual performers will also be presented at the ceremony, including best comedian, best sitcom actor and actress and best gameshow host.

Lost out

The shortlist for the performance prizes will be announced next month.

The awards will be presented as part of the 46th Rose d'Or festival, which runs from 25-30 April in Switzerland.

Last year's big British winner was Little Britain, which won the awards for best comedy and best male comedy performance for its stars Matt Lucas and David Walliams.

Strictly Come Dancing and sitcom Nighty Night were also successful, along with Zoe Wannamaker, best female comedy performer for her role in My Family.
