Carell plays the lead role in the NBC show The Office |
Steve Carell, star of the US version of The Office, is to present an Oscar at the Academy Awards next month. Carell, whose film credits include The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Bewitched and Bruce Almighty, will be taking part in the Oscar ceremony for the first time.
Other presenters participating include Jennifer Aniston, Luke Wilson, Hilary Swank and Morgan Freeman.
The 78th Academy Awards will be presented on Sunday 5 March at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.
Carell won a Golden Globe award earlier this year for The Office, in which he plays Michael Scott, an American version of Ricky Gervais' iconic David Brent character.
The comedy is to return for a third US series after attracting an average of 10 million viewers.
Earlier this month Gervais and his writing partner Stephen Merchant announced they would be writing an episode for the American spin-off.
Carell will shortly begin shooting Evan Almighty, a sequel to Bruce Almighty that sees him take over from original star Jim Carrey.
