Actress Rachel McAdams is to host the Academy Awards ceremony dedicated to scientific and technical achievements on 18 February. The awards recognise those working on the technical side of film-making such as lighting and sound.
Canadian-born McAdams, 29, has starred in movies including Red Eye, The Notebook and Wedding Crashers.
Computer imaging expert Gary Demos will receive a lifetime achievement award for contributions to the industry.
Segments of the Scientific and Technical Awards presentation will be broadcast during the 78th Academy Awards on 5 March.
One of the latest presenters to be announced for the March ceremony is Will Ferrell, who starred in The Producers.
Double Oscar-winner Hilary Swank and Matrix star Keanu Reeves will also be presenting at the awards.
