Jackson appeared in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

The Pulp Fiction star, who began his career in 1972, put his hands and feet into wet cement outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre during the ceremony.

"It's an awesome sort of experience, the kind of thing you don't really think about as a young actor," the 57-year-old said.

"You stop to pause and say to yourself 'wow, you're in a very elite club'."

Only a select group of Hollywood's top performers are given the chance to leave their footprints on the famous forecourt outside the Chinese Theatre.

New thriller

Some 173 personalities have been given the honour, including Marilyn Monroe, Cary Grant, Clint Eastwood and Steven Spielberg.

Jackson, whose career includes roles in Jungle Fever, Jackie Brown and Unbreakable, has starred in more than 100 films.

His most recent projects include the role of Jedi master Mace Windu in the trio of Star Wars prequels.
