Matthew Fox was said to have received a $250,000 bonus |
The stars of US drama series Lost were offered a pay rise bringing their salary up to almost $80,000 (45,000) each per episode, it has been reported. All original cast members, currently receiving up to $40,000 (22,500) per episode, were offered a rise said industry journal Hollywood Reporter.
Matthew Fox, who plays Jack, is said to have earned an extra bonus of at least $250,000 (140,000), it added.
Cast members and producers Touchstone TV declined to comment.
Third season
The pay rise would enable the Lost actors to match the salaries of the four leading stars of comedy drama Desperate Housewives, the journal said.
If accepted, actors would receive the pay from the third season of Lost, broadcast on the ABC network in the US and Channel 4 in the UK.
But in the spirit of the castaway drama, the Lost actors are said to have no guarantee about the length of their tenure on the show.
Six million UK viewers watched the first episode of Lost last year, with the first episode of the second series attracting a US audience of 23.4 million last September.
