He was charged after answering bail at Stoke Newington police station following his arrest on 4 December.

The 26-year-old was arrested on 4 December after drugs were found in his car in east London.

He was released on unconditional bail until 8 February when he will also be sentenced for two other drugs charges.

The former Libertines member, who appeared in court wearing jeans, was released on bail until his next court appearance before Ealing magistrates.

Speaking outside court, Doherty said he planned to travel to Stoke where he is due to play at a previously cancelled concert, adding: "It's like the 19th time it's been called off."

When police stopped his car in the early hours of 4 December they found found .923 grams of heroin, .087 grams of crack cocaine, .037 grams of cannabis and a quantity of morphine, the court heard.

Doherty was also arrested on Saturday in Hackney on suspicion of possessing a Class A drug.

This came only days after Doherty appeared before Ealing magistrates' court in west London on 11 January where he admitted two charges of possessing Class A drugs which were found when police stopped his car on 30 November.
