 Trafalgar Square has played host to many big events |
The First Night of the Proms is to be screened in London's Trafalgar Square for the first time. A big screen will be erected, beaming live footage from the concert at the Royal Albert Hall.
Free live music performances will also be held in the square on 15 July, ahead of the main event in the evening.
The theme of this year's concert series is The Sea, with the first night offering music from Berlioz, Elgar, Mendelssohn and Tippett.
Other events which have been beamed onto a big screen at the London landmark include VE Day celebrations and a Wimbledon charity match.
