Money theme for Sopranos finale

The final series of The Sopranos will concentrate on money and materialism, programme creator David Chase has said.

Chase told reporters in New York that consumerism was all the characters in the mob drama cared about.

"All that stuff helps them not to think about larger issues. I notice that myself - when I go shopping, I feel better. It's like a high," he said.

The sixth series is currently in production, and is due to air in the US in spring 2006.
