X Factor winner Steve Brookstein has seen his debut album Heart and Soul go straight to the top of the UK charts. Brookstein, who won the TV talent show in December 2004, has produced an album of cover versions for his first effort.
He knocked hip-hop star Akon's album Trouble into second place. The US artist is still number one in the singles chart with Lonely.
The highest single new entry was The Game featuring his mentor 50 Cent with Hate It or Love It at number five.
The Gorillaz, which features Blur frontman Damon Albarn, saw an impressive rise for their single Feel Good Inc, rising from number 20 last week to number two.
Tony Christie's (Is This the Way to Amarillo) was at number three after nine weeks on the chart, seven of those at number one.
Liverpool band The Coral scored a new entry at number six with In the Morning, while Kelly Osbourne's One Word went in at nine.
In the album charts, Basement Jaxx's greatest hits release The Singles fell one place to number three.
New entries in the top 20 included Weezer's Make Believe at 11 and Morcheeba's The Antidote at 17.
