Carol Thatcher was a surprise winner |
Carol Thatcher has returned to the UK after her stay in the Australian jungle where she won reality show I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here. Former prime minister Margaret Thatcher's daughter said she was not missing camp life and looking forward to being back in civilisation.
Asked about winning the ITV show, she told reporters at Heathrow Airport: "I am just getting used to it, you know."
Contestants including Cannon and Ball and Sheree Murphy also returned home.
Thatcher was seen as an unlikely contender to win the title "Queen of the Jungle". But she won over fans with her no-nonsense approach to Bushtucker trials where she had swim with rats and toads and eat kangaroo testicles.
'Von, von, von'
Nearly 12 million viewers tuned in to watch the final on Monday night when Thatcher won out over ex-Emmerdale star Murphy and former EastEnders actor Sid Owen.
Speaking at Heathrow Airport, she said: "If there are any hitchhiking leeches that hung on for the trip, I'm going to get rid of them. I've a lot of Aussie dirt under my fingernails, so I think I'll have a prolonged shower. Australia is a long way away."
She added: "I don't think my next holiday will be a camping one."
Comic Bobby Ball entered the airport arrivals hall yelling his new catchphrase "von, von, von", which he often shouted in the jungle when under pressure in honour of his wife Yvonne.
Murphy, who was the show's runner-up, said she was most looking forward to a cup of tea and seeing her two children and husband, Liverpool and Australia footballer Harry Kewell.
