Actor Schwimmer heads to Broadway
David Schwimmer
Schwimmer made his West End debut in Some Girls in May
Former Friends actor David Schwimmer is to make his Broadway debut after impressing critics during his run in London's West End.

He will star in a revival of The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial, an adaptation of Herman Wouk's novel.

The play, in which Schwimmer plays an army lieutenant, will open in New York on 7 May.

The actor has been filming in the UK and the Isle of Man for his next film, Big Nothing.

Hit movie

Schwimmer's role was played by Henry Fonda in the original 1954 Broadway production of the drama, about a mutiny on a US Navy ship during World War II.

Adapted from a Pulitzer Prize-winning 1951 novel, The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial originally ran for over a year on Broadway.

The book was also adapted into a hit movie starring Humphrey Bogart as the ship's mentally unstable commanding officer.

Jerry Zaks, who directs the new Broadway production, has won four Tony Awards, including one for Six Degrees of Separation.

Schwimmer won favourable reviews for his West End debut in Neil LaBute's play Some Girls in May.
