Twenty of Michael Jackson's biggest hits are to be re-released over successive weeks from January. The initiative, entitled Visionary: The Video Singles, comes after this year's reissue of 18 Elvis Presley hits earned 750,000 sales and three UK number ones.
The Jackson reissues will be the first Dualdisc singles, with audio on one side and the video on the reverse.
The series begins with the parallel releases of Thriller and Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough on 23 January.
Thriller will be packaged with a collector's box and ineligible for the singles chart, but all the other releases will challenge for a chart position.
Darren Henderson, vice-president of commercial marketing at Sony BMG, said: "Michael has been fully behind this project and the originality of the first ever Dualdisc single idea typifies the creativity of one of the most innovative artists in our lifetime.
"The quality of each single, having the audio on one side and the video on the other, is a compelling proposition for his fans."
The tracks aiming to make a return to the charts also include Billie Jean, Beat It, Bad, Black or White and Earth Song, concluding with Blood On The Dance Floor on 29 May.
As with the Elvis reissues, the Jackson singles' packaging will echo the original picture bags and inner sleeves.
