X&Y topped the charts in 28 countries on its June release |
Coldplay's X&Y has been named the best album of 2005 in a list compiled by British rock magazine Q. The group's third album topped the charts in 28 countries.
Gorillaz's Demon Days came next in the Q ranking, followed by Employment by Kaiser Chiefs and the Oasis release Don't Believe The Truth.
Tracks from the top albums - Oasis' The Importance of Being Idle, Coldplay's Fix You and Kaiser Chiefs' I Predict A Riot - were named singles of the year.
Coldplay were named best act in the world at the Q Awards in October.
Delay
X&Y's release had been delayed until June after Coldplay said they were not happy with some of the material from early recording sessions.
