Liam Gallagher gave the interview to NME |
Liam Gallagher has hit out at the Scissor Sisters and other top bands in a magazine interview. The Oasis frontman criticised the Brit-award winning band along with Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs and Bloc Party in an interview with NME.
But he did have words of admiration for Charlotte Church, who he said could be "the next Liam".
The new Oasis album Don't Believe The Truth is released next month, with a European and US tour to follow.
Scathing put-downs
Gallagher said of 19-year-old Church's lifestyle: "She knows how to get hammered and she freaks people out."
But Gallagher also told the NME that the Brit-award winning band Scissor Sisters were "rubbish" and Bloc Party reminded him of "a band off University Challenge".
He also said The Kaiser Chiefs were "just a bad Blur" who "wore make-up".
Gallagher also laid into Pete Doherty and his former band The Libertines, saying of Doherty's well documented heroin addiction which has led to spells in therapy, that it was "nasty".
But Gallagher's brother Noel said: "Pete's always been an absolute gentleman to me and my missus.
"He's incredibly well read and he's got a good soul. I tell you what, he needs to wash his hands more, but that's about it. He's one of the last bohemians."
