 Miss Okonedo picked up an Oscar nomination for Hotel Rwanda |
Sophie Okonedo has been named best female performer at the Screen Nation Film and Television Awards. The 36-year-old star received the award at the ceremony in London honouring Black British artists for her Oscar nominated role in Hotel Rwanda.
Vas Blackwood took the best male performer award for his parts in Creep and Rollin' with the Nines.
There were also awards for the stars of the film Bullet Boy, which explored gang culture among youths in London.
Bullet Boy actors Clare Perkins and Luke Fraser were recognised in the category honouring future talent.
In the TV categories, there were wins for The Bill's Michele Austin and Cyril Nri and Holby City's Jaye Jacobs.
Outside the main awards, Hollywood actor Melvin Van Peebles was honoured for outstanding contribution to film and TV.
