Natasha Kaplinsky refused to reveal the ring under her gloves |
Strictly Come Dancing and BBC One Breakfast presenter Natasha Kaplinsky has got engaged. Kaplinsky, 32, who will wed Justin Bower, said she was "thrilled and very excited" about her news.
But she was reluctant to revel in the spotlight, refusing to show her ring to photographers on Tuesday.
When Breakfast co-host Dermot Murnaghan suggested she announce the date, she replied: "We won't be announcing it to anyone. I am blushing. Let's move on."
She had already told him: "It has been a whirlwind. It has been lovely. It's a very nice ring."
But later in the day, when she launched a concert to mark the 60th anniversary of VE Day, she refused to remove her black satin gloves.
"I can't take them off, we can do that another time," she said, adding: "I'm thrilled and very excited about it."
Kaplinsky, who joined the BBC from Sky News in 2002, was named newscaster of the year and two of her programmes won prizes at the Tric Awards last month.
