Kidman and Cruise: Hottest husband and wife

Those on the 44-strong panel included BBC One controller Peter Salmon and the BBC's head of comedy Geoffrey Perkins.

The music industry was represented by Creation Records boss Alan McGee, BBC Radio 1 DJ Judge Jules and singer Bjork.

Lower down on their list of desirables, British names dominate with Phantom Menace star Ewan McGregor the highest ranking Briton in fourth place.

British musicians are also well represented, with Robbie Williams in sixth place and DJ Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim) at number 10.

But Cook's wife, Radio 1 DJ Zoe Ball doesn't make the list at all.

Mel C was the highest ranking Spice Girl, at number eight, while Mel G is at number 45 and ex-member Geri Halliwell is in 80th place.

Spice Girls Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham however fail to get a mention.

Manic Street Preachers were the highest placed rock band at 15 above other high charting British acts like Chemical Brothers (25), Stereophonics (26) and Basement Jaxx (29).

There were a few surprises, including newcomer Sacha Baron Cohen, famed for his spoof hip-hop character Ali G on the 11 O'Clock Show, who comes in at number 5.

Johnny Vaughan, one of the hottest stars on British TV, is at 18 - but is topped by his new Big Breakfast colleague Liza Tarbuck at 14.

Her predecessor Kelly Brook is not even listed.
