 Jackson hopes other artists will feature on the song |
Michael Jackson has been recording a song he wrote for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, say reports. The recordings have taken place in a studio in Los Angeles, according to US music industry paper Billboard.
The singer himself is believed to have participated in the sessions via phone and satellite, after "tweaking" the music in recordings in London.
Jackson's spokeswoman Raymone Bain said the artist would unveil a new name for the track shortly.
Chorus
The song was originally entitled From The Bottom Of My Heart and is expected to feature various artists.
Ms Bain told Billboard Jackson had rewritten the song, adding: "He didn't need as many artists as he originally had planned for."
"There are others who have to lay vocals as well," she said.
"Michael plans on getting together with them for the chorus. We still have two to three more steps before the song will be ready for release."
She declined to name which stars would contribute, although Billboard reported Ciara, Snoop Dogg and Shirley Caesar had been spotted at Los Angeles' Conway Studios.
Michael Jackson visited a recording studio in London earlier this month, marking his first public appearance since being cleared of child abuse charges in June.
