The guest editors will be in charge from 18 November

The others are sportswoman Dame Kelly Holmes, drugs smuggler turned writer Howard Marks and Alastair Campbell, Tony Blair's former press secretary.

Each will order the stories of the day and commission their own reports.

Five News presenter Kirsty Young said it would be "fascinating to see how their backgrounds influence their editorial judgement".

She said they each had "very different areas of specialist knowledge and use diverse disciplines in their respective fields".

New initiative

Five news editor Mark Calvert said: "All of our guest editors are used to being in the news and have on many occasions been the focus of intense media interest.

"This will challenge them, and challenge the conventional view of what makes news."

Each celebrity editor will take charge of a Friday half-hour bulletin.

Ms Dynamite starts the series on 11 November, with Holmes, Marks and Campbell taking the next three consecutive Fridays.

Guest editors are commonplace in publishing but are a relatively new initiative in broadcasting.

Last December rock star Bono, novelist Monica Ali and film director Anthony Minghella were among those given a chance to edit Radio 4's Today programme.
