Stewart won his first Grammy this year for his covers album Stardust |
Singer Rod Stewart has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to honour a career spanning more than 40 years. "It's wonderful to be on this same sidewalk as Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald," he said.
The London-born singer's popularity has been revived in the US with the success of his Great American Songbook albums of 1930s and 1940s cover versions.
"It has been a great year for me, my first Grammy, now this and I'm going to be a dad again," he added.
"I don't know how I did that but I did," he told a large crowd outside Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.
Stewart, 60, became famous as a singer in the Faces before having a string of solo hits including Baby Jane, Do Ya Think I'm Sexy, Maggie May and Sailing.
He won the traditional pop album Grammy for Stardust: The Great American Songbook Volume Three in February.
Four of Stewart's six children attended Tuesday's ceremony. His baby with Penny Lancaster, 33, is due in early December.
