Sir Sean Connery is being sued for $30m (�15.7m) by a New York neighbour who claimed the actor played loud music and permitted an infestation of rats. Dr Burton Sultan said the actor, 74, lived in a Manhattan apartment owned by Sir Sean's son Stephane.
He alleged Sir Sean often played loud music and allowed workers to create noise, fumes and dripping water.
A spokeswoman for the actor said Connery was "rarely" in New York and called the claim "ridiculous".
'Wreaked havoc'
Dr Sultan claimed construction work at the neighbouring apartment had "wreaked havoc on (his) collection of museum-quality Victorian and early 20th Century wicker furniture".
He said it had become "irreparably damaged by water, falling plaster and black soot and grime".
In the legal submission filed in New York, Dr Sultan accused Sir Sean of trying to force his family off the premises so he could acquire the property at a knock-down price.
Sir Sean's spokeswoman said the actor lived in the Bahamas.
"Sir Sean Connery does not own any property in the United States and is rarely in New York," she said.
"Anyone in the United States can sue for anything. That does not mean that the suit has any merit. The claims are ridiculous."
