Boy band McFly have beaten hip-hop star Kanye West to the number one position in this week's UK albums chart.

Wonderland is the group's second album, and emulated its predecessor in entering the chart at the top.

Kanye West's Late Registration - the follow up to The College Dropout - entered at number two.

Damon Albarn's cartoon act Gorillaz have the new number one single with Dare. Jessica Simpson's These Boots Are Made For Walkin' made number four.

Last week's number one single, Oasis' The Importance of Being Idle, slipped down to number five.

Other new entries came from David Gray, whose The One I Love is at number eight, whil Les Rythmes Digitales' Jacques Your Body (Make Me Sweat) entered at number nine.

Mercury Prize nominee KT Tunstall's Suddenly I See is a new entry at number 12, one place below Gwen Stefani's Cool.

Tunstall's album, Eye To The Telescope, rose six places to number seven in the chart ahead of Tuesday's ceremony.

Fellow nominees Coldplay and Kaiser Chiefs each slipped a place to numbers four and five respectively, while The Magic Numbers fell out of the top 10 altogether, slipping seven places to number 15.
