US show Desperate Housewives received 15 Emmy nominations and its series final attracted 4.1 million UK viewers.
The accident was not expected to delay filming on the show's second series.
Suburban drama Desperate Housewives has been US network ABC's top-rated show, attracting 22.8 million viewers.
The show's popularity in its Sunday night slot has led organisers of the Golden Globe film awards to move its traditional Sunday ceremony to a Monday next year, to avoid losing viewers to Desperate Housewives.
