Spacey's recent co-star Kate Bosworth may play Lois Lane |
Oscar-winner Kevin Spacey, 45, has been signed up to play Lex Luthor in the Superman sequel, due out in 2006. The Usual Suspects star will be reunited with director Bryan Singer for the untitled project which begins shooting in March, reports Variety.
"The huge attraction for me was the chance to work with Bryan again," Spacey, 45, told the trade magazine.
Newcomer Brandon Routh, 25, will play the lead, famously played by the late Christopher Reeve who died last year.
Variety reported that filming would kick off in Sydney, Australia on 3 March 2005, but Spacey will not join the set until August due to theatrical commitments with London's Old Vic theatre.
"Lex Luthor is a wonderful role," said Spacey, whose films include American Beauty, LA Confidential and Seven.
Kate Bosworth, his co-star in the recent Bobby Darin biopic Under the Sea, is also being considered for the role of Lois Lane, although Warner Bros could not confirm her involvement.
