Police have said they are negotiating the surrender of rapper Young Buck, who is suspected of stabbing a man at the Vibe hip-hop awards in California. Young Buck - whose real name is David Darnell Brown - is wanted following the stabbing of a man who allegedly punched rapper Dr Dre in the face.
Mr Buck's lawyer Scott Lemon said in a statement that Mr Brown, 23, would "surrender in the near future".
The stabbed man, Jimmy James Johnson, is in a stable condition in hospital.
Scuffle
Police allege that Mr Brown, who is a member of 50 Cent's group G-Unit, stabbed Mr Johnson in a hangar at Santa Monica airport on Monday night, where the awards were held.
Mr Brown's mother, Audrey Horn, said on Thursday that she had not heard from her son but "was sure David is going to turn himself in."
Dr Dre accepted his award after the incident |
Dr Dre was hit as he waited to go on stage at the ceremony, police said.
He was receiving a lifetime achievement award from rapper Snoop Dogg and record producer Quincy Jones.
Mr Johnson allegedly approached Dr Dre, who was seated at a table in front of the stage, and appeared to ask for an autograph, before punching him.
During the ensuing scuffle - which involved many of the 1,000-strong crowd - Mr Johnson was stabbed as he was being dragged away by security staff.
Mr Brown is signed to Dr Dre's record label as part of G-Unit. His debut solo album, Straight Outta Cashville, debuted at number three on the US Billboard chart in August.
Police are also trying to identify two other men they say were holding knives in a videotape of the fight.
The show resumed after the crowd calmed down and Dr Dre was presented with his award.
