Operatic vocal group Il Divo are celebrating chart success after knocking Robbie Williams off the top of the album chart.

The quartet achieved platinum status in just one week, selling 130,000 copies of their self-titled debut release.

"We'd been hoping for maybe a top 10 entry, but this is more than we ever dreamed of," they said.

The tenors, the latest act from Pop Idol and X Factor judge Simon Cowell, were unknown until a few weeks ago.

Meanwhile in the singles chart, the top five was made up of five new entries from American artists.

Eminem fought off competition from four big-name acts to claim the number one spot.

Just Lose It, the first single from his forthcoming album, Encore, pipped Destiny's Child to the post.

Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams took a break from Destiny's Child to pursue solo projects two years ago.

Lose My Breath, which entered this week's chart at number two, is their first release since 2001.

Britney Spears' cover of Bobby Brown's 1988 hit My Prerogative went in at three, with Christina Aguilera's version of Rose Royce's Car Wash at four.

R&B singer Usher completed the line-up at number five with Confessions Part II/My Boo.
