The nationwide poll of Odeon managers put Sean Connery's "The name's Bond, James Bond", from Dr No, at number two.

"May the force be with you", of Star Wars fame, and "What's it all about?" from Alfie also made the top 10.

"The top 10 shows that it's the old catchphrases that have stood the test of time," said an Odeon spokeswoman.

Recent films to make the grade included Jerry Maguire starring Tom Cruise and Mike Myers' spy spoof movie Austin Powers.

A remake of Alfie, which originally starred Michael Caine, is being released on Friday, with Jude Law in the lead role.

Michael Caine makes the list twice, with another entry for The Italian Job, which was also remade in 2003.

"Catchphrases from films have always managed to find their way into everyday language," said Odeon brand manager Kate MacFarlane.
