Primal Scream singer Bobby Gillespie and his girlfriend have won undisclosed damages from a newspaper after it said he was having an affair with Kate Moss. The couple's lawyer said on Thursday the News of the World story would have left a "false and unfounded impression" of a relationship between the two.
Entitled It Moss be Love, the story showed a picture of Gillespie walking with the model.
The News of the World admitted the mistake and apologised.
Pop Idol Young in film role talks
Pop Idol winner Will Young is reportedly in talks for his first movie role in a musical starring alongside Dame Judi Dench.
The film, Mrs Henderson Presents, will begin filming in September, The Sun newspaper reported.
The film's producers were said to be impressed with his screen test.
The film, which will also star Bob Hoskins, will feature many nude scenes - though the singing star is not expected to appear naked.
TV hit West Wing 'will not last'
The hit US political TV show The West Wing may not last much longer, one of the stars of the show has said.
Actor Richard Schiff, who plays Toby Ziegler, said: "I honestly don't think it's the last year, but maybe the year after that.
"The plans are that it's going to go a full term, eight years," he said at the Democratic National Convention.
The NBC series, which stars Martin Sheen as the US president, has become a worldwide critical success.
White Stripes star to join Beck
White Stripes singer and guitarist Jack White is appear on a song with eclectic pop star Beck for the latter's new album, due later this year.
White's appearance follows Beck's part in the video to the White Stripes single The Hardest Button to Button.
Beck's album will be his first release since the acclaimed 2002 album Sea Change, recorded with Radiohead's producer Nigel Godrich.
The White Stripes will play the Reading and Leeds festival in August.
US studio investing in Thailand
Major Hollywood producer Studio Intl is investing $75m (�41m) in a new film studios in Thailand, and will shoot the mini-series Band of Brothers II there.
It will begin building on an 80-acre site in the Samut Prakarn province, near Bangkok, early next year.
"The first phase... will be completed in 10 months while an animation centre and a film academy will follow," said a Thai finance ministry spokesman.
He said the studio planned to spend $100m a year on shooting films there.
Spider-Man clings onto top spot
Superhero sequel Spider-Man 2 has stayed at the top of the UK box office, fending off the challenge of the big screen debut of Thunderbirds.
The film took �3.5m in the last week, taking its total to �16.6m.
Director Jonathan Frakes' version of Thunderbirds was in third place, taking �1.35m, following lukewarm reviews.
Two Brothers, the story of two lions, was the only other new entry in the top 10, taking seventh spot and earning �293,000 in its first week.
