Lady Penelope's chauffeur Parker drove the car in the Thunderbirds series |
A pink Rolls-Royce used by Lady Penelope in the 1966 puppet movie Thunderbirds Are Go is being sold. The 8ft-long steel model car features a Perspex roof which allowed puppeteers to manipulate the models inside.
Auction specialist Cooper Owen will sell the item on website eBay on Monday on behalf of a private collector. No reserve price has been set.
The forthcoming live action Thunderbirds film replaces the pink Rolls-Royce with a Ford.
No engine
Bearing the classic FAB 1 number plate, the car was driven by Lady Penelope's chauffeur, Parker.
Custom-built, the model has two front doors, steering mechanics, working lamps and leather seats, but no engine or gear stick.
Cooper Owen's Ted Owen said: "Lady Penelope's pink Rolls-Royce is familiar to generations who grew up with Thunderbirds and we expect the listing will attract a lot of bidders from both fans and collectors."
Auction site eBay said it expected "a frenzy of interest" for the item, ahead of the UK release of the new Thunderbirds movie on 23 July.
In May figures and props from the Thunderbirds TV series were auctioned by Christie's for 112,000 - over five times more than expected.
The only existing head of puppet astronaut John Tracy sold for 37,600 - despite being valued at just 6,000.
