Vanessa was ousted over hairdresser Dan |
South African student Vanessa Nimmo has been evicted from the Big Brother house in the first proper public vote of the fifth series. She was the favourite to go from the Channel 4 show, with William Hill giving odds of 1-25 on her leaving.
The public chose the 26-year-old over hairdresser Daniel Bryan.
Last week's planned eviction was cancelled at the last minute following the furious bust-up that led to Emma Greenwood being kicked off the show.
The brawl led to viewers calling the police, and officers interviewed Vanessa after her eviction.
She told a press conference on Saturday she thought the row had been "blown out of proportion".
"We did resolve it within the house but obviously there was some concern outside," she said.
"It's just a format they [the police] are going through."
Outspoken Kitten Pinder, 24, was the first to leave the house after annoying producers with her bad behaviour in the first week.
She was followed by 20-year-old Emma who was separated from the rest of the group following the brawl.
Drunken rows
After keeping her isolated for two days, Big Brother bosses decided it was too much of risk to put her back in the house with the others, and sent her home without giving her the chance to say goodbye to the other contestants.
Following the row between several of the housemates, ratings for the show shot up to nearly seven million viewers.
They have since steadied to an average of 4.8 million for the week night broadcasts.
Channel 4 said unofficial figures showed 5.3 million watched Vanessa's eviction on Friday night.
