Forget the Star Wars hype - the countdown is on for the biggest movie event of the coming year for millions of Toy Story fans.

A short trailer for the eagerly-awaited sequel is running in America at showings of Tarzan - Disney's new animated blockbuster - and UK fans can see it on Disney's official site.

Released in 1995, Toy Story was the first completely computer-animated feature film and a box office smash hit, taking more than $350m.

Toy Story 2 opens in the UK next February
Sales of Toy Story merchandise rocketed and Buzz Lightyear toys were the number one Christmas best-seller.

Toy Story 2 will reunite Hollywood stars Tom Hanks and Tim Allen as the voices of Woody and Buzz Lightyear.

Frasier star Kelsey Grammar and John Ratzenberger of Cheers fame are among the "vocal" guest stars.

In the sequel, Buzz and Woody's owner, Andy, goes to summer camp, leaving the toys to their own devices.

The fun starts when an obsessive toy collector kidnaps Woody and it's up to Buzz and the gang from Andy's room to spring into action and save their pal from winding up as a museum piece.

Toy Story 2 is another co-production between Disney and US animation studio Pixar, who were also behind this year's A Bug's Life.

Ash Brandon and Colin Brady, who led the original's animation team, are once again at the helm.

The film opens in America on 26 November and in cinemas across the UK next February.

The original Toy Story is the third most popular animated feature ever, with The Lion King and Aladdin taking the honours.
