Kill Bill: Volume 2 stars Uma Thurman
Action movie Kill Bill: Volume 2 has stayed on top of the UK and Ireland box office chart, holding off competition from Jim Carrey's latest quirky film.

Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill sequel took �1.4m over the weekend, taking its total box office receipts to �5.6m.

Carrey's Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which also stars Kate Winslet, made its debut at number two.

It took �1m in its opening weekend, beating Johnny's Depp's thriller Secret Window which entered at three.

Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler comedy 50 First Dates slipped from number two to four, with weekend business of �590,730 bringing its total to �6.4m.

Sccoby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed made up the top five, with �550,472 over the weekend.

Bollywood movie Main Hoon Na, directed by Farah Khan, was the only other new entry in the top ten, compiled by Screen International.

It took �288,148 over the three-day period, despite only being shown on 41 screens.

But Barrymore and Ben Stiller's comedy Our House took just �154,369 in its opening weekend from 189 screens.
