Griff Rhys Jones returns to present the second series |
A former wool mill, a radar station and a Gothic castle will be among the buildings battling it out in the next series of Restoration. The BBC Two programme, presented by Griff Rhys Jones, will see 21 historic buildings - each championed by a famous face - pitted against each other.
The winning building will get millions of pounds in aid for restoration.
The winner last year was Manchester's Victoria Baths, which received 3m from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Three buildings per geographical area have been selected for the public vote.
A launch programme to kick off the 2004 series will be shown on BBC Two on 8 May.
Conservation architect Ptolemy Dean and historic building surveyor Marianne Suhr will join Rhys Jones again to unearth the hidden secrets of the historic buildings.
Last year's winner had been derelict for a decade |
One of the houses on the list, Strawberry Hill, in Twickenham, is on the most 100 endangered sites on the World Monuments Fund watch list.
In Belfast, a lock-keeper's cottage, and the last remaining cottage in public ownership on the Lagan Navigation canal, is up for rescue.
And in Wales, Cardigan Castle was home to Henry VII during his march to the Battle of Bosworth in 1485 and it also hosted the first ever National Eisteddfod festival.
The new series will start on BBC Two in the summer.
