Reeves performed many stunts in the Matrix trilogy |
Stunt performers in the US will honour Keanu Reeves, star of the Matrix movies, for his roles in action films. The actor, who also appeared in Speed and Bram Stoker's Dracula, will receive an honorary award for best action movie star at the World Stunt Awards.
The award will be given to the 39-year-old at the ceremony on 16 May.
The awards, held in Los Angeles, will also hand out prizes in categories such as best fight, best fire stunt and best work with a vehicle.
"Keanu's work with The Matrix trilogy was some of the best from an actor of his generation," said Gernot Friedhuber, executive producer of the awards.
"He has consistently shown an ability to learn from the stunt teams on his many films and has expressed a genuine interest in the field of stunt work," he said.
Nominees have this year been selected from 19 films, including Kill Bill: Volume 1, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Bad Boys II and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.
The awards will this year be hosted by Baywatch star Carmen Electra and actor Dennis Hopper.
