Actress Cate Blanchett, Oscar-nominated for her 1998 role as a 16th Century British monarch in Elizabeth, has given birth to a second son. The Australian star, married to writer Andrew Upton, gave birth on Friday in London to a boy named Roman Robert.
The couple already have a two-year-old son, Dashiell John.
Blanchett's movies include Veronica Guerin, The Talented Mr Ripley, the Lord of the Rings film trilogy, The Missing and The Aviator.
Howard Hughes biographical drama The Aviator will see the 34-year-old actress portray screen legend Katharine Hepburn.
Blanchett has also been linked to the lead role in a biopic about the life of celebrated author Beatrix Potter.
