Holly Valance starred in the soap as Felicity Scully |
Australia's longest-running soap, Neighbours, is making its debut on US television screens on Monday. Two episodes will be shown back-to-back every day for six weeks from 19 April on the Oxygen cable channel.
Viewers will pick up the action from a 1999 episode when the Scully family arrive in Ramsay Street, in the fictional suburb of Erinsborough.
The soap, made by Grundy TV, has been shown in 55 countries since it first aired in 1985.
'Compelling stories'
It has helped launch the careers of stars such as Kylie Minogue, Natalie Imbruglia, Guy Pearce, Holly Valance and Delta Goodrem.
Debby Beece, president of programming, Oxygen Media said: "For years, Neighbours has captured the hearts of young audiences around the world.
"Oxygen is pleased to bring the series' compelling stories to our viewers.
"Now they too can join in on the good, the bad and the endlessly entertaining lives of our Aussie neighbours on Ramsay Street."
Lisa Honig, of distributors Fremantle International said: "Oxygen has scheduled Neighbours in an excellent slot, following lead-in show Roseanne - one of the networks' top rated programmes."
