McFly hold on to chart top spot

McFly have held on to the number one spot in the UK singles chart with their debut single 5 Colours In Her Hair.

The guitar-playing boy band - who supported Busted on their recent sell-out tour - kept Usher at number two for a second week.

Rasmus' In The Shadows scored the highest new entry at three.

But Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus only scraped in at number 16 with the The Meaning of Love, the follow-up to her chart-topping debut.

The top three albums stayed the same, with Anastacia's self-titled release at the top, followed by Guns N' Roses' Greatest Hits and Usher's Confessions.

And following publicity to celebrate five years of the musical Mamma Mia! and the 30th anniversary of Abba winning the Eurovision Song Contest, the legendary Swedish band's collection, Gold - Greatest Hits, went in at number four.

In the classical charts, mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins has gone straight to the top with her debut album Premiere.

"My three ambitions have always been to sing at the Millennium Stadium and the Sydney Opera House, and to get to number one in the classical charts," said the delighted 23-year-old teacher.

"I can't believe I've done all three. I am totally overwhelmed."
