Ms Knight is due back in court next month |
A woman accused of stalking actress Catherine Zeta Jones has been deemed mentally fit to stand trial. Dawnette Knight, 33, is facing a series of charges after allegedly making threats against the Welsh-born actress.
Ms Knight was ordered to undergo psychiatric tests after taking a suspected overdose hours before a court appearance in July.
Court-appointed psychiatrist Dr Kal Sharma told Ms Knight's lawyer he found her fit to stand trial.
Letters
Lawyer Richard Herman said he had relayed the findings of Dr Sharma's report to a court in Los Angeles.
Ms Knight is next due before Judge John Riley at Los Angeles Superior Court on 8 September.
She was arrested on 3 June at her apartment in Beverly Hills and later charged with one count of stalking and 24 counts of making criminal threats.
The day prior to Ms Knight overdosing on barbiturates, Zeta Jones told the court about threatening letters she allegedly received from Ms Knight.
One of the letters vowed to have Zeta Jones "shredded to pieces" and included an invitation to the actress' funeral.
It is alleged Knight made the threats over an 18-month period because she was obsessed with Zeta Jones' film star husband Michael Douglas, 59.
