Children's TV favourite Basil Brush will appear in new global markets |
The company which owns the broadcast rights to Basil Brush, Postman Pat and Little Red Tractor has signed a deal to market its characters around the world. Entertainment Rights' new deal covers a range of broadcast, video, DVD, toy and games rights.
Territories covered include France, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, the Asia Pacific region, the Middle East and South Africa.
The firm's chief executive Mike Heap described the deal as "significant".
In addition to its British TV characters, Entertainment Rights also owns rights to third party global brands including Mattel's Barbie, Hasbro's Transformers, Casper the Friendly Ghost and Felix the Cat.
Since 1999, the company says it has increased its quota of children's TV programming from 50 hours to more than 1,200 hours.
Earlier this year, the firm bid to takeover Chorian, the company which owns the rights to Noddy in a 43.5m ($79.3m) deal.
But the offer was rejected by Chorian as "not in the best interests" of its shareholders.
