Lydon made the outburst on live TV |
ITV is to face no action over punk star John Lydon's four-letter outburst on an episode of the game show I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! Media watchdog Ofcom received 96 complaints from viewers after the Sex Pistols singer swore on TV.
ITV immediately apologised and the regulator said it would not face any more action.
"Viewers were aware that this was a live programme, featuring John Lydon in the Australian bush," Ofcom said.
"The broadcaster acknowledged that it was highly regrettable and took immediate steps to apologise. Under such circumstances we believed that no further action was necessary," Ofcom said.
The outburst came after the punk star learned he had not been evicted from the show.
ITV introduced a time delay on future episodes to avoid similar problems.
