Fry drama heads new ITV schedule

Stephen Fry will star in Tom Brown's School Days
ITV is introducing a raft of new dramas to its autumn schedule featuring stars such as Stephen Fry and Martin Clunes.

Fry will appear in an adaptation of Tom Brown's School Days, while Clunes is working on a six-part medical series called Doc Martin.

Tamzin Outhwaite will make her first appearance on ITV1 as a woman on the run in Frances Tuesday.

Michael Parkinson will launch his new chat show later in the year after defecting from the BBC.

Another new drama, Dirty Filthy Love, will tackle the topic of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder through a love story.

James Nesbitt heads the cast in Quite Ugly One Morning, a black comedy based on Christopher Brookmyre's novel about a journalist who stumbles on a murder scene and ends up being the prime suspect.

Jungle time

Agatha Christie's Miss Marple will be revived with Geraldine McEwan playing the super sleuth.

ITV1 is also broadcasting a number of comedy films with Clunes, Caroline Quentin and Richard Wilson down to star in three stand-alone shows on the theme of being trapped.

The thirst for talent shows continues with the launch of X-Factor featuring Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh on the hunt for a singing act.

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here will return for a third series, while hosts Ant and Dec will also front another run of Saturday Night Takeaway.

Another reality-based show will be Press Ganged, where two teams will be sent out to sea on a 19th Century vessel to endure a month long voyage.
