Pakistan may lift its ban on films such as Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Ghum |
An entertainment industry delegation from Pakistan is meeting its counterparts in India for the first time in 40 years. The 20-strong group of producers, directors and technicians is in Bombay - also known as Mumbai - as relations between the countries continue to thaw.
They asked the Indian film industry to stop producing anti-Pakistani films.
The group also proposed a legitimate channel in Pakistan for Indian films, which are currently banned there.
Delegates met at the Frames entertainment festival, where India's information and broadcasting minister Ravi Shanker Prasad called for a memorandum of understanding between the two countries.
Such a fusion would place the South Asian region on the world map of entertainment, he said.
The move came as India's cricket team tours Pakistan for the first time in 14 years, seen as a boost to bilateral relations.
British culture secretary Tessa Jowell is also attending the Frames festival, in a bid to encourage the Bollywood industry to make more movies in the UK.
